Well, an update at last. Mucho work has intervened in the winter months, varied and interesting, some well paid and some not. Why is it that the more interesting the work the more unrewarding it is financially…oh well. So much has impeded progress of the blog and well the film. So were where we?

The battle with Wayne! This proves an incredibly unrewarding six months of backwards and forwards with the Writer. I am convinced that he does not want to actually write the screenplay, in fact too afraid to write. Waiting to get to paid to do something doesn’t prove you are a professional writer. Output of quality is. And after looking closely, Wayne’s output is minimal in this regard. So I am not going to dwell other than to say this was a dead end street of frustration. I call the NZFC and decline their offer of a Early Development Loan because I cannot satisfy the conditions of the loan.

The Positive…Lee and I, can working as a team and we have some contacts in Scandinavia.

The Negative…we are not getting any younger.

A friend suggests another topic based onfact with scandinavian elements. Perfect. After backwards and forwards, Lee writes an outline. Unfortunately, even though  he has not seen “The Girl with a Dragon Tattoo”, it turns out to be a precis of the plot. Duh! Much nashing of teeth. Dead end.

However, with some revision and introducing a completely new thread, we devise a new treatment that we are both, more satisfied with. I package and re-submit…to NZFC.

Some would say you do not bite the hand that feeds but in this case when the hand does not even tell, inform or officially notify that the application is in fact received, considered or rejected it becomes hard to remain detached and professional. After ringing to inquire several times as to the outcome of our application. I am finally told by Marilyn Milgrom, the then head of development, that we were not funded something to do with our threat being not threatening enough! I email a response around 15 minutes later. The email bounces back. Marilyn has left the building permanently and will not be returning. She has promised in the phone call to write an official rejection with notes. I am still waiting …oh well.

So a different route…a different plan. Crowdsourcing and a website. So here we are. I new way to fund a film. We only have two followers on twitter so I better up the social media campaign…
